AtoZ of Petunia Flowers

Petunia flowers having different vibrant and vivacious colors and silky and delicate petals are very famous among all kinds of flowers. These flowers are quite appealing, and attractive flowers. These plants belonging to Family Solanaceae and genus Petunia are native to South America. Some of it’s varieties are also hybrid of usually Petunia axillaris which have large white petals and Petunia integrifolia with violet colored flowers. In recent times, trumpet shaped Petunia flowers of varying colors, sizes and shapes have also been produced.

• Shape and color :
Trumpet shaped and green colored plant with low lying and hairy foliage.

• Varieties:
It comprises of different varieties which include hedgiflora, multiflora, milliflora and grandifolora.

• Grandiflora:
Graniflora is the one which comprises of largest petals of about fours inches in diameter. This class is further divided into sub-classes such as merlin blue morn having white and blue flowers, daddy series having flowers of pink or purple shades, supercascade series having flowers of different shades and ultra series having flowers of different vibrant shades. The flowers of ulta series are bi-shaped.

• Hedgiflora:
Hedgiflora or secong category plants are also commonly called as Spreading Petunias. In this category, most of the plants are usually up to six inches which is their maximum height and the area covered by these flowers is usually up to four feet. This category comprises of various popular plants among which opera supreme having large flowers and tidal wave taller in this category than others are most popular.

• Multiflora:
Multiflora is the third category of petunia flowers which are up two inches in diameter. Grandifolra variety usually gets damaged by rain but these are not. Examples of multiflora includes carpet series having flowers of different shades and colors and surfinia series having flowers of pink, purple, white and blue color.

• Milliflora:
Milliflora is the last and fourth category of petunia flowers ranging up to one inch in diameter. These category includes those flowers which can tolerate harsh weather.
